Welcome to Upside Down Flan
Welcome to my blog and thank you for choosing to spend a little time with me today. This blog will be covering a range of topics that all fall under the umbrella of wellness. Living well is a process that few, ever truly feel they have achieved but rather work towards, similar to the theory we all learned about in psychology, self-actualization.
Abraham Maslow coined the term “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs” which recognizes that we have certain innate needs that build on one another and until we have the basic needs of clothing, food, and shelter, we cannot expect to move to a place of psychological safety and self-fulfillment. I would prefer to think of wellbeing as a state of mind, the spectrum that we move along throughout our lives, depending on what our life circumstances are and, it’s ever-changing. To live in a state of well-being takes intentionality and quite often work, but work that is and can be rewarding along the way, after all, it is not about the destination, but the journey!
Our path towards wellness incorporates actions, decisions, habits, or practices that enhance one’s life. The writing and storytelling I will be drawing on throughout this blog will be my professional experience of over 20 years as a social worker and as a fellow human. Humanity is strength, despite the obstacles that fall in our path, we endeavor on, sometimes it’s because that is all we can do, the question we confront is how we choose to push through. I hope this blog will be one of those sources to help you move forward in your life journey.

Therapy
One of the paths towards wellness and good health is through therapy. I speak about therapy in many of my posts here on upsidedownflan.com and while I am always open to new referrals, I don’t have the capacity to see many clients with my many different professional obligations. However, I do have an excellent alternative, I have partnered with Online-Therapy.com. where you will have access to your own therapist from anywhere in the world and you will receive 20% off with my affiliate link which you can access by clicking here.
